Bubbling anticipation should be what we feel when we’re about to jet off on holiday. And looming work trips take up enough brain space, we don’t need to have undue wardrobe stress added to the mix.

Personally, I like to think about what I’ll be wearing!
Right now I’m packing for a work trip to the USA. Three stops: Los Angeles, New York then back home via San Francisco. After decades of international travel I have become very good at packing. While many of us are well attuned to the power of Investment Dressing in day-to-day life, it isn’t always practised when the suitcases come out.
As with all wardrobe items, these pieces are about style, fit and how they make you feel. If you feel amazing in a floor length leopard print coat why on earth wouldn’t you invest in it?!
I have two red leather skirts I have worn over and over and the longer style is already packed in my suitcase for this trip – to wear with the CAMILLA Etched Into Eternity blouse and a pair of RM Williams Maya boots.
So when I build my travel wardrobe, I start the same way every time: colour, classics, casual AND always investment pieces.
Today, as a trend, Investment Dressing is stronger than ever (albeit often rebranded as 'quiet luxury') and it’s time for its impact to be felt not just at home, but away.
I’m often asked about my wardrobe and how big it is. There's an expectation that my home wardrobe is akin to my old editor’s closet at Harper’s (the happiest place on Earth). Shoes lit perfectly, jumpers colour-coded and handbags lining an entire wall.

However, I do have a wardrobe full of things I love. Pieces I have had for over a decade that I wear over and over again, and even heroes need a holiday.
