The temptress of time beckons me to follow her through a hyperreal theatre of riddles. Enchanted and charmed, I follow in a dreamlike trance. The delicate hands of grandfather clocks spin feverishly; the golden sand floats suspended within its ornate hourglass. The universe holds its breath. I succumb and let myself drift dizzyingly through the ages, where centuries quickly turn to seconds.

To end the season we read and reread Shakespeare’s plays,
dipping deep into his world of star-crossed lovers, Macbeth madness and the dreamy nights of Midsummer.
We feasted on tragic love stories, old world comedies and poetic battles of power.
This was a time of famously great artists the world still worships today: Rubens, Caravaggio, and Rembrandt gloriously painted dramatic scenes that came to define the time.
Colour us intrigued.
Romance is calling our name!
We travel all the way back to the mid nineteenth century, where everything was lacey and lovely.
Florals flourished and love was on the brain.
Poets Byron, Shelley and Keats wrote sonnets to court their ladies, and sweethearts gifted each other lover’s lockets: ornate gold and pearl jewellery pieces with striking eye motifs.
We take a leap forward into the floral heavy world of Art Nouveau.
Gaudi, Alphonse and Klimt led the pack of renegade artists, breaking moulds with wild abandon.
Vintage posters and their fresh linear take on the natural world quickly became our new obsession.
We set up our studio like theirs, lining the walls with references while we drew and drew and drew.
These prints see stylised florals and gilded mirrors; circular frames and blooming borders.
The madness of the Middle Ages sweeps us up next. We delved deep into books about the ancient time, arriving at the gothic gates of breathtaking grand cathedrals bathed in flickering candlelight.
We held our breath in awe. We became utterly mesmerised by stained glass windows and the rich kaleidoscope of patterns they create. We drank in Gothic architecture, all haunting church bells, vaulted ceilings and beautiful arches.
Paying homage to this time, our prints are undeniably fierce and moody.
We first soared back in time to the roaring twenties, getting lost in old Hollywood films and pouring through Art Deco art and design books all the while sipping champagne from sparkling coupes.
It was the Jazz Age, where fun and freedom were the mood de jour. A dizzy decade where Fitzgerald flapper girls and bob haired bandits danced every night with dapper gentlemen and moody mobsters.
It was all poetic parties and curtain calls, we drink in the high-octane glamour of silver screen queens. We longed to sit in an underground speakeasy, sipping martinis with Greta Garbo and Joan Crawford, in a haze of Louis Armstrong jazz melodies.
