A 17th-century French carpet with landscapes displayed in The Met's Varengeville Room is digitally reimagined by the CAMILLA team. Inspired by the original carpet's floral and arabesque detailing, our homage features sunflowers and ornate crests in its intricate design.
Meet Me At The Met
We've reimagined Air, a 17th-century embroidered French hanging belonging to a larger set of textiles representing the seasons and elements. In this tribute, the CAMILLA artisans place The Met's storied tapestry on a backdrop of sumptuous red stars, and interweave motifs borrowed from gilded snuffboxes and elaborately decorated porcelain vases also in the Museum's holdings.
Life's Rich Tapestry
Our interpretation of a 17th-century French armorial tapestry bearing the arms of the Swiss Greder family is digitally expanded upon by the CAMILLA artisans. Florals from the central panels of the Museum's hanging are added to a bottom frame on the print, creating an elongated version of the original composition.
