ìThe streets are perfumed with tea and herbs as I wander from the Catedral de Granada toward the AlcaicerÌa. Red-rimmed baskets brim with spices ó rooibos, vanilla, violets, chocolate ó a heady, intoxicating blend. These narrow lanes once held the silk and spice markets; now embroidered shawls spill from balconies, and hand-painted fans perch in the shadows of their stalls. Wooden boxes carved with Moorish motifs beckon from within, like tiny treasures waiting to be claimed. Far off, high in the hills, Sacromonte still calls ó a memory, a melody, a pull I cannot shake.î
